Filby Village Hall
Filby Playing Field Committee
We are a registered charity that runs the Village Hall, the Club Room and the Playing Field.
The Committee’s objectives are to meet those demands placed on it by the ever changing needs of the local residents.
The Playing Field Committee provides facilities for groups, within the community, to pursue their interests, to meet, to improve their life skills, to tackle common issues and to effect improvements to the local environment.
Whilst the Committee raises funds by hiring out those facilities to enable residents to participate in activities of their choice, its main source of income is derived from events throughout the year. These include..

Trusteeship

Whilst its constitution permits a Committee of 24 trustees, its present membership is just 20. Most are stakeholders in the activities that take place in the village. We are a friendly bunch but recognise that we are a typical ‘village hall committee’ in so far as our membership is largely made up of retired residents. However, many of the activities that were planned for the new hall are focused on young people and new younger trustees are sought, to influence these. If you are interested in becoming a trustee, you must be over 18 years of age and be prepared to spend a couple of hours every two months attending our meetings.

There are vacancies on the committee, at present, and we are actively seeking new trustees who can represent the views of the younger residents and, ideally, help organise new activities for them based upon the new Village Hall, the Club Room or the Playing Field.

If you would like to put ‘a toe in the water’, come and get to know us. You could sit in on our next meeting. This would normally take place on a weekday at 7 pm and last an hour or so. It is not a lifetime commitment.

Should you join us, you will be given every assistance in assuming your new role so if you feel you would like to gain the satisfaction of being a part of an active social group and can afford to give us a few hours a month, contact Joy Baldry on 01493 369375 or email her at joysee@btinternet.com
